DCHA college scholarship program deadline

Last Date:

Headed to higher learning? The District of Columbia Housing Authority has a total of $25,000 in scholarships the agency wants to award to you.

The annual Commitment to Excellence Scholarship Program is now accepting applications from students who live at DCHA properties or are Housing Choice Voucher Program recipients. There is no age requirement; however applicants must be attending an accredited college, university, or trade/technical school in the fall and must have a 2.0 GPA or a 225 GED score.

Continuing education is something DCHA always encourages and the agency wants to support our clients who are working toward that goal. These scholarships, which are paid directly to your learning institution, can pay for books, tuition, equipment, or other items needed to assist our clients' in their studies.

Three selected applicants with a GPA of 3.5 or greater are eligible for $5,000 scholarships. Ten selected applicants with a GPA of 2.0 or greater will be eligible for $1,000 scholarships.

Applications are available on the DC Housing Authority website (PDF), in DCHA’s Office of Resident Services, HCVP offices, housing managers’ offices and resident council offices.

Applications must be submitted in full by June 13, 2014 by 4:45 pm. If portions of the application are missing, it will not be considered.
