19th Annual DC SCORES Jamboree!
On May 31, 1,500 youth will celebrate the end of the DC SCORES spring season at Anacostia Park with a day of soccer and many other activities. The students represent 47 DC public and public charter schools in all eight wards of the District and are part of the year-round, largest after-school program in the city. The annual event is also attended by hundreds of parents, community members and partners of the nonprofit organization.
The DC SCORES Jamboree! is highlighted by round-robin soccer tournaments for 47 elementary and middle school teams — both boys and girls. The day begins with the elementary school City Cup championship games and a trophy presentation. The action-packed day also features several activity booths including face painting, poetry, and games led by DC SCORES partners such as Starbucks, FAAR, Penya Barcelonista and others. There are also giveaways for both students and parents.
DC SCORES builds teams through after-school programs for 1,500 low-income DC youth at 47 schools by instilling self-expression, physical fitness, and a sense of community.
DC SCORES is an affiliate and flagship of America SCORES, the nation’s largest inner-city soccer and literacy program. For more information, visit www.DCSCORES.org.
